Endorsement
of Teachers of
Physical Education
for Students with Disabilities
| Students who are interested in this endorsement
should understand that credits/courses cannot be "double-counted"
toward both the K-12 physical education endorsement and the adapted
physical education endorsement.
Given the limited availability of applicable
courses at MSU, the only students MSU will be in a position to
recommend for the adapted physical education endorsement are those
with:
 | A dual major/dual endorsement in physical
education and special education. |
 | A major in either physical education or
special education, plus a minor or endorsement in the other
field. In this case, a minimum of 18 semester credits must be
completed for the minor, and the courses for the minor must lead
to the following competencies. |
Students may also choose to pursue the adapted
physical education endorsement at another university in Michigan
(e.g., EMU, CMU, WMU). In that case, the other university will be
responsible for recommending the student for the endorsement to the
State of Michigan. MSU courses may count toward the endorsement if
the other university agrees and if the MSU courses help to fulfill
the following requirements. The Michigan Intercollegiate Graduate
Studies Program (http://grad.msu.edu/migs.htm)
may facilitate enrollment in courses at other universities.
