Course Description

Doctoral degree students are required to complete a dissertation research project as part of their degree programs. To satisfy KIN degree requirements, the student must successfully propose, implement, and defend the thesis research project according to MSU policies as posted on the Graduate School web site. Dissertation students should also consult the Guidelines on Student/Faculty Collaboration in Research.

Recommendations

Students are reminded that they must be registered in an MSU course in the semester of graduation; therefore, it is prudent to "save" at least one KIN 999 credit for the semester of graduation.

Enrollment

bulletDiscuss the proposed research project with your advisor and guidance committee and secure their agreement to supervise your work.
bulletIf your advisor is not the most appropriate person to mentor you on the dissertation research project, you may select a different person as dissertation director. This should be a mutual decision involving your advisor, the dissertation director, and the student.
bulletComplete the Application to Enroll in Variable-Credit Courses form. Completion of this form is especially important if your dissertation director is not the same person as your advisor.
