Endowed Fellowship
Description
This fellowship recognizes graduate students in the Department of Kinesiology who have
demonstrated exemplary motivation and capacity to achieve educational and professional
goals, and initiative to go beyond ordinary expectations in their
professional behavior and development. The fellowship was initiated in
1994, and is funded primarily by donations from department faculty
members. Approximately $2,000 is available to each scholarship recipient
each year.

Nomination Procedures
Recipients of this award are
selected on the basis of scholarship and leadership in academic
achievement, teaching achievement, research achievement, professional
leadership/service, and service to the department, college, and/or
university. Nominations are submitted to the KIN Graduate Studies
Coordinator, Dr. Gail M. Dummer, in early January, with the award being
effective the following fall. In addition, applicants must submit
materials requested as part of the College of Education on-line
application process.
Applicants must submit the
following information:

Cover letter (one page
maximum) describing the student's intention to apply for the endowed
scholarship and highlighting the student's most significant
achievements. This cover letter must be co-signed by the student's
advisor.

Resume that includes
complete reference citations for presentations, publications, and
grants.
|
 |
Narrative application (five
double-spaced pages maximum) that describes the student's
accomplishments in these areas: (a) academic achievement; (b) teaching
achievement; (c) research achievement; (d) professional
leadership/service; and (e) service to the department, college, and
university. Possible content for each area is described below.

Two exemplary products
across all areas of scholarship - not two products in each area.
Examples of products include an exemplary course syllabus, an innovative
or exemplary course assignment, a publication, or a grant proposal.

Letter of support from a KIN
faculty member.

Academic Achievement - cumulative GPA,
graduate course credits completed, progress
toward the degree

Teaching Achievement - teaching competence,
course/program development, presentations related to teaching, publications related to teaching,
teaching evaluations

involvement in research proposal
writing, publication of research findings, publication

organizations, service to professional organizations, leadership in professional
organizations, service to
