GRANT FUNDED PROJECTS
Jeanne Foley has received a grant from the Nordic Track Company. Dr.
Foley is involved in an ongoing research project using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to
evaluate the delayed muscle soreness response to eccentric vs. concentric exercise.
Assisting in the project are former PEES student Rob Smith ('93) and current exercise
physiology master's student Roop Jayaraman. The project also involved about a dozen of our
undergraduate majors as subjects. At the conclusion of the study, Nordic Track will donate
equipment used in the study to the PEES Department. Collaborating investigators include
Dr. Gary Dudley, FACSM, from the University of Georgia, and Dr. Ron Meyer from the MSU
Physiology Department.
Paul Vogel received an All-University Outreach Grant for $12,350 to
explore the use of educational technology to educate coaches of children and youth.
