Joey
Eisenmann
has accepted a faculty position in the Department of Kinesiology and
Health at the University of Wyoming starting Fall, 2000.
Anthony Kontos
received the Dissertation Completion Fellowship from the Graduate
School in Spring, 2000.
Dawn-Kimberly Lewis
received the Summer Accelerated Fellowship from the Graduate School
for Summer, 2000. Dawn also has receive Thesis Award from Association
for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology. Her thesis,
Cognitive and emotional processes during the rehabilitation of severe
athletic injuries, was voted the best amongst her peers. Dawn will be
receiving the award at the AAASP Conference in Nashville, TN in
October. Congratulations, Dawn.
Michelle Magyar
received a Spencer Research Training Fellowship from the College of
Education in Spring, 2000.
Shannon Siegel
received the 1999 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the College of
Education for her dissertation titled, Patterns of sport participation
and physical activity in Mexican youth. She also received the Academic
Excellence Award for the Department of Kinesiology.
Philip Sullivan
has accepted a faculty position at Brock University for Fall, 2000.
Jennifer J. Waldron
received the 1999 Distinguished Thesis Award from the Graduate College
at Bowling Green State University for her masters thesis titled,
Motivational climate and goal orientation in adolescent female
softball players.
Undergraduate Student News
The MSU Sports Skills Program
(the
lab for KIN 465) hosted the local Special Olympics swimming competition
at DeWitt High School on April 28, 2000. Seventeen participants from
the Sports Skills Program competed in the meet, while their parents, MSU
students, and other volunteers staffed the meet. Kinesiology seniors
Kraig Conyer, Kathryn Figenshau, and Mike Nanzer will be coaches for the
10 Sports Skills participants who will advance to the Michigan Special
Olympics Games on June 1-3 at Central Michigan University. Featured in
the picture at the right with Sparty is Samantha Wood (swimmer) with her
coach Shante` Burke.
