Task Force Meets to Evaluate
Evidence
The task force has
several important responsibilities related to
curriculum evaluation.
-
Complete the
Expert Curriculum Evaluation Survey
independently of the consultant. The task force may complete this survey as
a group or as individuals. Because of the varying expertise of members of
the task force, there may be some questions in the survey that certain
individuals are not qualified to answer.
-
Conduct an overall evaluation of the
physical education curriculum in use by the school system. Evidence to be
considered includes the curriculum documents compiled in
Step #2, the report written by the external consultant in
Step #3, and the Expert Curriculum Evaluation Survey
completed by the task force. This review usually requires several meetings
where evaluation data are received, discussed, and debated. The goal of
these meetings is to achieve consensus about the quality of the physical
education curriculum.
-
Write a consensus report that
includes strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum, as well as
recommendations for improvement. The task force report should clearly
describe the evaluation procedures used by the task force and should list
all persons who contributed to the report. The task force report may be
written by a volunteer member of the task force or a designated person such
as the responsible administrator or consultant. The report is subsequently
disseminated to all members of the task force, who review the content for
accuracy and offer editorial suggestions. The opportunity for review and
edits may occur at a meeting called for that purpose (preferred), or the
process may be conducted via mail.
-
Help to communicate and disseminate
information from the task force to the physical education faculty and
community stakeholders. The task force members are selected on the
basis of their expertise and respect from their peers, so they are in a good
position to help educate others about the physical education curriculum and
the evaluation data.
