 | CISS. The Comité
Internationale des Sports des Sourds (CISS) was established in 1924 to
provide sports opportunities for athletes who are deaf. CISS conducts the
quadrennial summer and winter Deaflympics, as well as sport-specific world
championship events. |
 | IBSA. The International Blind Sports
Federation (IBSA) was founded in
1981 to provide sports opportunities for athletes who are blind and
visually impaired. IBSA conducts the multi-sport IBSA world championships
and also promotes competition for blind and visually impaired athletes at
the regional and national levels. |
 | INAS-FID. The International Sports
Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (INAS-FID) was
established in 1986 to provide sports
opportunities for athletes with mental retardation
and other cognitive disabilities. INAS-FID
believes that persons with intellectual disability have the right to
participate the sport of their choice at the
level of ability they desire - either the the highly competitive open
competition promoted by INAS-FID or the less intense ability-grouped
competition as organized by Special
Olympics International (SOI). |
 | CP-ISRA. The
Cerebral Palsy - International Sports and
Recreation Association (CP-ISRA) was formed
in 1978 to provide sports opportunities for persons
with cerebral palsy and related neurological conditions. CP-ISRA conducts
the international Robin Hood Games and also promotes competitions at the
regional and national levels. |
 | ISMWSF. The International Stoke
Mandeville Games Federation was founded in 1960. The organization, now
known as the International Stoke Mandeville Wheelchair Sports Federation,
currently encompasses wheelchair athletes in a variety of summer and
winter sports. The ISMWSF conducts the Stoke Mandeville Games annually except
in Paralympic years. |
 | ISOD. The International Sports Organization for the Disabled (ISOD) was founded
in 1964 to provide sports opportunities for athletes
with permanent disabilities who cannot participate on reasonably equal
terms with non-disabled athletes. |
